A great post showing the horrible job that Google has done with OCRing off-copyright books. To be fair, horrible is better than not there at all. Down the road I suspect that disgust will result in repair and reformatting on a book-by-book basis. Google has done this on purpose. They want volunteers to do this work rather than pay to have it done.
I agree with Mike Cane. Google should be ashamed. Unfortunately shameless corporate manipulation is name of the game these days.
