As the population of e-book readers increases the grumbling about different formats and the "rental" metaphor of buying books will be met head-on. The music industry bowed to the realities of DRM and music sales (strong DRM decreases sales). The book industry will eventually see the light. In the meantime pirate DRM stripping software for books is batting 1000 and the regular Joe who wouldn't dream of picking a lock is the only one suffering.
